Tasty & Healthy Eggs: Our Versatile Knights in Shining Calcium Armour!

You can never go wrong with eggs. They are powerhouses of nutrition and are must-haves for all categories of people at every age (portions vary). Moreover, they make for quick and easy food prep, irrespective of the time of day. You can scramble them or boil them for breakfast, toss them as omelettes for lunch or even cook them in tasty gravies for dinner.

Have you ever wondered how many calories are in one boiled egg? The calories vary, depending on:

  • The egg’s size
  • The type of egg
  • The method of preparation

However, eggs are an excellent source of protein, vitamins, minerals, and healthy Omega-3 fatty acids. If there was ever a substitute for nutritious meat, an egg would be on that list.

What makes eggs so special?

The versatile dishes you can make with egg are probably a huge advantage of this simple yet sophisticated delicacy. Eggs have become almost synchronous to a healthy diet in many parts of the world.

If you are a gym buff, you are indeed in love with eggs. If you are a parent concerned about your child’s growth, you would have thought of eggs at least once. If you are an enthusiast of fine dining, eggs are definitely on the menu.

The second and most important specialty of eggs is their immense nutritional value. Besides being packed with essential nutrients, eggs also offer a good deal of energy for the body and are easy to digest.

Eggs are a big part of cuisine around the world. From mayonnaise to cakes and salads, waffles to egg bhurji and bhaji, the popularity of eggs in cuisine stems from a prominent liking towards this food item. Eggs are delicious when prepared in many ways.

A whole boiled egg contains minimal calories, high protein and essential fats (yes, the good kind, not the bad ones!). Besides, it also contains generous amounts of essential vitamins A, D, E, K, B6, and calcium.

What makes eggs the nearest form of ‘perfect food’ in terms of daily nutrition?

  • Folate
  • Vitamin B12, B2, B5 , A
  • Phosphorus
  • Selenium

It is difficult to ignore this superfood, whether it is for growth and development, a chiselled physique, or the sheer joy of having your favourite food item.

At Licious, all our eggs are thoroughly cleaned and quality tested. This includes light and float testing. Additionally, they are extremely fresh, contain NO hormones or added chemicals and can be home delivered in perfect condition. We’ve got classic white, brown, quail, kadaknath and duck eggs!

How to cook ’em?

Beat a few eggs in a bowl and add all your favourite vegetables, salt, and pepper (yes, cheese, milk, and cream, depending on taste and preference). Mix them well. Heat some oil in a pan and pour in the mixture. Cook on a medium flame and wait for 3-5 mins for one side of the eggs to get cooked. Keep checking the lower side with a spatula. As soon as it turns brownish, it is time to flip it. Another 3-4 mins, and you have the best omelette in the world!

If omelettes seem too much work, just stir a few eggs in a pan with a little oil, some milk, and minimal salt if needed. Just keep beating the eggs with a spatula on low flame until they get a creamy and soft texture. Spread some over toast or between a croissant and enjoy the easiest and tastiest scrambled eggs!
