  1. Mix the turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, ginger-garlic paste, roasted coriander powder and coconut powder into a thick paste. Marinade the curry cuts with this mix and let them sit for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Scrape the drumsticks to deseed them and cut them into 2-inch long pieces. Wash them thoroughly and let them soak in water for about 10 to 15 minutes. Pat them dry after they have been soaked.
  3. Add some oil to a heated pan and saute the drumsticks for about 5 minutes. Set them aside after this is done.
  4. Let’s move on to making the Munakkaya mutton curry in a pressure cooker. Add some oil to a pressure cooker and saute the onions until they are golden brown.
  5. Add in some ginger-garlic paste and green chillies, and fry this till the mixture is aromatic.
  6. Add the marinated mutton pieces to this mix and cook them on a low flame for 5-6 minutes, stirring them at regular intervals.
  7. Add about 3 cups of water (about 400ml) once the mutton is cooked and cover the pressure cooker with its lid.
  8. Cook this mutton curry on medium heat for a time period of 7 to 8 whistles and then turn off the heat.
  9. Once the pressure is settled, remove the lid and stir the curry, adding the drumstick pieces and half a cup of water to it. Mix it well.
  10. Turn the stove back on and cook the mutton curry until the drumstick pieces are soft. Add in the chopped coriander leaves and garam masala and mix it thoroughly.
  11. Turn off the flame after about 15 minutes or once the curry achieves a gravy-like consistency.
  12. Garnish this spicy mutton with coriander leaves and it is ready to serve!
