The Original Taco

As most know, the taco originated in Mexico. It is a very popular and tasty Mexican street food that has spread around the globe. People make tacos with small wheat or corn tortilla and a filling, and eat them by hand.

Essentially, the fillings could be anything from pork, chicken, vegetables and of course seafood. The toppings are varied too and could include cheese, guacamole, salsa, chillies and other vegetables.

There are a variety of tacos to choose from, for example: The traditional soft-shell taco; hard-shell tacos which were developed in the US; breakfast tacos and the Navajo Indian taco, which uses fried bread rather than tortillas.

Therefore, we thought we would put a desi spin on this tradition too. By incorporating our ready-to-cook Fish Tikka as the filling and your choice of toppings. This palate pleaser is sure to go down well with friends & fam.

Licious Ready-to-Cook Fish Tikka

East Indian flavours were the inspiration for our Fish Tikka Tacos. This ready-to-cook pack contains 11-13 pieces of basa cubes marinated in a mix of kasundi mustard, honey, lime and mustard oil. The mustard gives it a very distinct flavour with a mild spiciness. Our Fish Tikka pieces cook in just 7-8 minutes when pan fried.

You can rustle up a fantastic dinner in just under 20 minutes with our Fish Tikka Tacos and have the rest of the day or evening to sit back and relax with family. This dish could easily feed 5 - 6 people.
Instructions
  1. Begin by mixing your Fish Tikka gently in a bowl to make sure the marinade is evenly distributed. The fish is quite delicate, so try not to break the pieces.
  2. In a non-stick frying pan, heat 1 teaspoon of oil. Add your fish pieces and sear evenly on both sides, flipping occasionally.
  3. To ensure your fish remains moist, sprinkle a little water into your pan and cook covered for a few minutes.
  4. For a rich, thick sauce, remove the fish pieces once cooked and deglaze the pan with some water. Gently scrape your pan to loosen the spices.
  5. When your fish is cooked, grab your crunchy tacos
  6. Don’t forget your chopped veggies (onions and tomatoes) `
  7. Add your Fish Tikka pieces and the sauce
  8. Dollop on a good spoonful of sour cream
  9. Finally garnish with coriander and a good squeeze of lime juice for added zing
