How to Make Jeera Mutton: Bengali Recipe by Licious?

  1. In a large bowl, add mutton, 2 tbsp mustard oil, cumin, coriander, turmeric, garam masala, and Kashmiri red chilli powders, along with sugar, salt, and curd. Mix them well and set aside to marinade for 30 minutes.
  2. In a pressure cooker, heat oil and add the potatoes along with a pinch of salt and turmeric powder. Fry till they are golden in colour and strain on tissue paper.
  3. In the same oil, add cumin seeds, bay leaf, dried red chillies, cinnamon and cardamoms and allow to splutter.
  4. Add onions and fry till they turn translucent.
  5. Add ginger, garlic, and green chillies and cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Add the marinated goat meat and mix the ingredients well.
  7. Cook the meat on low flame for around 10 minutes and keep stirring.
  8. Add the fried potatoes and mix well.
  9. Add hot water to the cooker till it covers the meat and potatoes, and close the lid.
  10. Cook on low flame till the first whistle and cook on a medium flame for 4 whistles.
  11. Garnish with ghee and fresh coriander leaves.
  12. Serve hot with rice, chapatti, or naan.
