Fried Fish Fillet – An Easy and Delicious Recipe For The Novice Chef

Fried fish fillets, or Fish & Chips as the Brits call it, is an easy, lip-smacking, and kid-friendly dish. There probably aren’t many people who have tried and hated batter-fried or crumbed fish. Here we share a tasty fried fish fillet recipe that can be ready in a matter of minutes. It is a simple combination of flour and seasoning. Although this recipe may sound too simple to taste good, the result is straight-up awesome!

The Origins of Fish & Chips

Everyone knows that fish & Chips is a British fan favourite. It is often considered the national dish of Britain and is a popular takeaway or take-out dish. Its popularity has gained international notoriety, and it has spread to other countries like Australia, the U.S., New Zealand, and yes, India.

People choose to eat it with either a squeeze of lemon juice or a drizzle of malt vinegar. Besides the chips, people also enjoy mushy peas, mint sauce, and even batter scraps as sides.

Any of our fish fillets would pair nicely with this recipe, but we especially like Tilapia (Jalebi) fillets. You can view our other fresh fish & seafood options by clicking on the button below.

Tips for Perfectly Fried Fish

Maintain the right temperature

You want to ensure your oil is hot enough. If not, your fish will absorb too much oil and turn soggy. Test out a piece of bread; if it turns golden in 10-15 seconds, you’re good to go. If you intend to make fried fish often, then we recommend investing in an oil thermometer. 180-190℃ is ideal for flaky and crunchy fish.

Fry in smaller batches

Do not overcrowd your pan; this reduces the temperature of the oil, so again, your fish will begin to absorb oil and become soggy.
