  2. Preheat the oven to 180°C for around ten minutes.
  3. Grind 1½ tbsp chopped garlic, 1 tbsp olive oil, ½ tsp salt and pepper and 1 tbsp lemon juice to a smooth paste.
  4. Marinate the fish for around an hour or longer.
  5. Boil the potatoes and mash them well. Add 2 tbsp butter, ¼ cup hot milk, ½ tsp dried Italian herbs, salt and pepper and mixed well with the mashed potatoes to combine all the ingredients.
  6. In a pan, add 30 grams of butter and flour and cook for around five to seven minutes till the flour is cooked and the raw smell disappears.
  7. Add in the milk slowly while stirring continuously. Once the mixture thickens, add 2 tbsp of cheese, dried herbs, salt and pepper. Mix well and keep aside.
  8. In another pan, cook the marinated fish until it’s done.
  9. In the same pan, heat some oil and add the chopped garlic and onion. Once the onions are soft and brown, add the shredded fish and cooked mushroom and mix well. Add ¼ to 1/3 cup of the white sauce to the mixture. Combine well and keep aside.
  10. Grease a baking dish with butter and transfer the mixture to the dish. Top the mixture with the remaining white sauce.
  11. Add the mashed potatoes and spread them well over the white sauce. Sprinkle the grated cheese and bake for around 20 to 25 minutes. During the last five minutes, put the mixture on broil for the perfect golden crust.
  12. Allow the pie to rest for about 20 to 25 minutes before serving. It helps the pie to set well.

Any fish fillet can be used for this recipe. However, the cooking time may vary depending on the fish used. In case dried herbs aren’t available, fresh parsley can be used.
