What is Rotisserie Chicken Shawarma?

Although the rotisserie chicken shawarma is not the typical one you can find everywhere, it is still very delicious and flavourful. The authentic taste of the rotisserie recipe originated in Turkey during the late 18th century.

It was also known as shewerma or shavarma back then. Initially served as a sandwich with meat or chicken pieces, it was later combined with various herbs and spices to yield the desired product. In India, it was served in flatbreads like roti or paratha with chicken pieces combined with mayo sauce, green chillies, onions, and other ingredients.

After the dish gained popularity in the Middle East, the US and UK residents also took equal interest in this recipe. That’s how it got the modern touch to it.

The rotisserie chicken shawarma recipe uses an authentic Turkish recipe combined with the modern cooking method borrowed from the United States.

The chicken pieces are marinated with various spices and herbs to make them more flavorful and juicy. Afterwards, they are combined with vegetables (some pickled) as per your liking. The chicken pieces are then grilled to make them all the more luscious.
