What is a quick South Indian Chicken Curry Recipe to prepare at home?
Here’s a quick, easy and tasty South Indian Chicken Curry Recipe that is full of flavour. Enjoy it for lunch or dinner with a bowl of rice or your favourite bread.
Instructions
  1. Take a large bowl to marinate the chicken pieces.
  2. Add black pepper powder, turmeric, tamarind juice and salt to the chicken. Mix well and let it marinate for 1 hour.
  3. Take a pan and add oil. Add bay leaves, cardamom, fennel seeds, ginger and garlic. Sauté well for a minute.
  4. Add onions, green chillies and salt. Saute them well until the onions are translucent.
  5. Add curry leaves into the mixture, followed by the chopped tomatoes, and keep stirring for about 2 minutes.
  6. Add the spices (coriander, turmeric and chilli powders) with 1 tbsp water to make a fine paste.
  7. Add the paste into the pan and stir the ingredients until the oil separates.
  8. Add chicken pieces and roast them well for 5 minutes. Add ½ cup water and stir well, cover. Cook the chicken covered at low heat for 30 minutes.
  9. Once cooked, add the tamarind water and stir well again. Serve this South Indian Chicken Curry in a bowl and garnish with fresh coriander.
  10. Serve hot with chapati or rice.
